As anyone who knows me or my immediate family will know, we will talk about our dogs, especially Delta, for as long as we’re allowed. I will try my best here to cover the facts and keep to the point.

The story of how we got Delta is rich in joy and grief, but as I’m trying to keep to the point for context I’ll summarise and say she was put on this earth for me, my first dog, born on my birthday.

Unfortunately this past September we learned our sweet angel girl Delta has lymphoma, a more common cancer for dogs to get but not so easy to treat as it affects the blood, so cannot just simply be “cut out” as such.

The vets have said for a dog her size the typical protocol is going to cost just shy of £9,000 and nothing is guaranteed. However, if we act now we’ve got a chance. We are fundraising to help us access chemotherapy (and the costs that come with) as soon as possible for Delta. We know she is strong enough to get through treatment, we just wish finance wasn’t the barrier.

Full transparency - Delta is insured. However, her insurance has limits and you know how these things work, you pay first and then insurance fumbles with paperwork and semantics for weeks whilst you have to make difficult decisions. All funds will be used explicitly for Delta’s cancer care only.

As a family, we’re going through it. This kind of news is hard whenever it affects a loved one and Delta is an extension of us as a household. A reflection of our collective efforts for the past 5 years. The research, discipline, affection, and training poured in, paid out tenfold.

As I write this, Delta is curled up behind my legs and I can’t grasp her possibly not being in the same spot in 8 months to a years time. I know cost of living is crazy and everyone has priorities and things that matter to them, but on this occasion I am asking for help with something that matters to me, I promise there is very little in this world that tops her so anything you can spare, means a world of difference to me❤️
