Asking for help like this is not easy for us, but after nearly two years of fighting to save our home, we have reached a point where we cannot do it alone. I am Melissa, and this fundraiser is for me and Kelley as we try to save Kelley’s childhood home. This is so much more than just a house to us. Kelley’s parents worked incredibly hard for this home, and it holds a lifetime of memories. After Kelley’s mom suddenly passed away, the home was left to Kelley. It is one of the only things we have left of Kelley’s parents, and losing it would mean losing something we can never replace.
We started renovating the house through an FHA 203(k) renovation loan, believing we would eventually have a safe, finished home where we could begin our own chapter. Instead, repeated construction delays, financial strain, and ongoing setbacks have left us with an unfinished house we still cannot live in. We have worked with inspectors, the city, our lender and insurance, found another contractor, and searched for discounted and used materials just to keep going. We do not need anything fancy, only a livable home. The funds raised will go toward essential repairs like HVAC, plumbing, electrical work, drywall, and a functioning kitchen and bathroom so we can finally move in and stop foreclosure.
If you are able to donate, we are deeply grateful. If you cannot, sharing our story would mean so much to us. We will stretch every dollar as far as possible and share our progress so supporters can see what their kindness is making possible. We are simply asking for a chance to save Kelley’s childhood home, preserve her parents’ legacy, and bring this home back to life.
