Help Save Heroes in Ukraine
This devastating war in Ukraine has brought so many stories of self-sacrificing action into the spotlight.
Rescuers are working 24/7 to protect civilians through direct life-saving evacuations, extinguishing fires caused by airstrikes, repairing electricity and water supply lines, and as first-responder medics, all while under the dangerous and constant shelling. They give the Ukrainian people hope that the lives of their friends and relatives can be saved.
We know that these heroes need to be well and fully equipped to effectively act, and protect lives inside the hot spots around Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Kramatorsk, and Zaporizhzhia. It is for this reason that we aim to continue sending professional protection gear and support equipment for the rescuers and volunteers working on the frontline. Some examples are:
- Every rescuer, medic, responder, and firefighter working near any combat zone requires minimally: a high-quality vest, gas mask, and helmet to dramatically increase protection from random shelling, shooting, and debris so that others can be saved.
- Thermal cameras and drones are used to detect sources of fire, and to locate people and animals who may still be alive under the rubble.
We as volunteers are gathering funds and together with our partner organizations are providing this necessary equipment for the efficient rescue operations, and transporting it directly to Ukraine. We are working and collaborating closely with a broad network of local NGOs such as “Building Ukraine Together” (BUR), who will receive and immediately distribute the gear around the country to locations where it is most needed.
The campaign is being initiated in Germany through the cooperation of volunteers from European Exchange gGmbH, Vitsche e.V., and Ukrainian Virtual House UkrDim.
