Dear Friends of the Osio Theater:

It is with a heavy heart that I share some disappointing news.

After more than six months of negotiations, the Osio Arts Foundation and Green Valley Corporation of San Jose, which holds the 50-year ground lease with the City of Monterey for the Osio Theater complex, were unable to reach an agreement regarding the cost of replacing the building's aging HVAC system. Because we could not come to terms on that issue, we have made the difficult decision not to move forward with the Osio Theater project.

I have also stepped down from the Osio Arts Foundation Board. The remaining Board members remain committed to creating something positive for the local arts community and will continue working hard to make that vision a reality.

If possible, please request refunds by July 18. This will allow me to complete the Foundation's financial records and transfer the accounts to the new Osio Arts Foundation Treasurer. I will personally ensure that your refund check is mailed as quickly as possible. If you would prefer that your donation remain with the Foundation to support its future efforts, no action is required.
