<div>On June 2, 2026, our beloved Jizo statue (Ojizo-sama) at Jodo Mission of Hawaii was severely damaged in an act of vandalism.

<div>For nearly 40 years, this Ojizo-sama has stood quietly beside our temple, watching over countless residents and visitors who pass by on the nearby highway. Through sunshine, rain, and storms, Ojizo-sama has symbolized compassion, protection, and prayers for the safety and well-being of all people.

<div>In the Buddhist tradition, Jizo Bodhisattva is known as a protector of travelers, children, and those who are suffering. This statue has been a source of comfort and inspiration not only for members of our temple but also for many people in our community.

<div>While we were heartbroken by this senseless act, we have also been deeply moved by the outpouring of kindness and support that followed. After local news coverage of the incident, many individuals reached out with messages of encouragement, offers of assistance, and donations.

<div>We are now seeking to raise funds to restore this treasured statue. The funds collected will be used for:

<div>• Restoration and repair of the damaged Jizo statue
</div>
<div>• Replacement of damaged components if necessary
</div>
<div>• Installation of a new informational plaque explaining Ojizo-sama and its history
</div>
<div>• Related preservation and restoration costs

<div>Our goal is not simply to repair a stone statue. It is to preserve a symbol of compassion, hope, and community that has watched over Hawaii for nearly four decades. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us restore Ojizo-sama and ensure that future generations can continue to receive its silent blessings.
