My name is Dr. Madueke Ekoh, I am from Ihe in Awgu local government area of Enugu State in Nigeria. I currently live in Haymarket Virginia.

Mother of Mercy Hospital-Ihe was established and is managed by the Catholic Diocese of Awgu in Enugu State Nigeria. It used to have expatriate doctors and many good amenities back in the day but it is now a shell of itself.

Leaky roofs, no water, no decent toilet, no functional emergency unit, no proper sterilization equipment, broken windows and doors, no functional patient ward, no functional pharmacy, epileptic power supply and meager staff.

I remember as a child that my folks used to take me to this hospital during my many bouts with malaria and it saved the countless lives of many of us youngsters.

I visited home few months ago and what i saw baffled me and made me cry. It is difficult to comprehend the extent of decay and neglect over the years.

I have started a campaign to raise funds in solidarity with other people from Ihe, to see how we can help to retrofit this hospital and bring it back to life.
