My name is Cassie, and I’m a single mom fighting with everything I have to protect and care for my sweet little boy, my entire world, as we start to rebuild the carnage that has been our life for the last 23 months.

In March, I almost lost my son. He suffers from epilepsy, and one terrifying morning his seizures became life-threatening. I held him in my arms, helpless, praying he’d keep breathing. Since then, his condition has demanded all of me. Every minute, every ounce of energy, every dollar. I had to stop working just to care for him full-time.

Then things got worse.

He lost his only safe space after I made the decision no mother should ever have to make — to leave an unsafe situation. After being attacked by his father, I knew I couldn’t risk staying, not for me, and certainly not for my child. My amazing friends have given us a safe room for a few nights as I process everything that transpired. But now I have yet another fight ahead of me, trying desperately to find shelter, safety, and some sense of normalcy for Caleb.

I’m working small jobs when I can, but it’s not enough to cover the basics: keeping our car running, finding stable housing, feeding my son, and paying for his ongoing medical needs, as well as pending legal fees. I am exhausted. But I won’t give up, not on him, not on us. Which is why I’m humbly asking for help.

I’m sharing our story because we need help to get back on our feet. Even a small donation could mean gas to get to a doctor’s appointment, filled prescriptions, and food in his belly.
