Help us rebuild our lives after surviving the unthinkable

We are the Abu Ramadan family, and we are reaching out to you from a place we never thought we’d be… survivors of genocide, uprooted from our home in Gaza, facing a future we never imagined.
Waking up one Saturday morning to the thunderous noise of rockets, no one expected that it was sounding the alarm to end our life as we knew it. Before this catastrophe, I was an engineer and a musician with dreams as vibrant as the melodies I played on my beloved Qanoon, my companion, for over 13 years. My brother holds a bachelor’s in economics from the American University in Cairo, he was an honors’ student and a prestigious scholarship recipient, and returned to Gaza to achieve his dream of building a sustainable life in Gaza and help change its trajectory toward a better future. My sister was a second-year psychology student trying to fulfill her passion in helping children with war trauma. Both of my parents have sacrificed so much to provide us with the life they believed we deserve, to become the best versions of ourselves.
My instrument was more than just wood and strings; it held a piece of my soul, a piece that was lost along with my dreams and the life we once cherished. Today, I find myself without an income, without a home, and trying to navigate a world where every day is a battle for survival. Our family once had a stable life in Gaza. We had a home filled with love and laughter, a modest income to keep us going, and the comfort of stability. But that world has been shattered. Our home was heavily damaged, and our lives uprooted. My family and I managed to escape to Egypt, and while we are grateful to be safe, the journey has left us with nothing. The weight of surviving, of starting over, is too heavy to bear alone, especially with the turbulent economic state the region is going through.
I am here today to ask for your support. My parents rely on essential medications that we can barely afford. My brother received a scholarship to continue his master’s and is not able to work given the near impossibility of getting a work permit, my younger sister dreams of continuing her education, of living a life that honors her basic right to learn, to grow, and to have a proper future. And as for myself, I am trying to find a path forward, to reclaim my dreams and my dignity.
This GoFundMe campaign is a call for help. The funds raised will go toward monthly essentials, rent and bills, basic living expenses and critical medication, and toward my sisters’ educational journey.
As difficult and as humbling as it is, please support my family. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to regaining a sense of normality and healing.
Thank you for reading our story and for any support you can offer. Your kindness is a beacon of hope in these dark times, and it means the world to us.
