Saturday, August 1st, 2026, is a day my family will never forget. It started out so normal—we were prepping for my nephew’s 4th birthday, baking and decorating cupcakes and cakes, laughing and having fun. In a matter of minutes, what should have been a happy, joyous day turned into a scene from a war movie—a nightmare I’d never imagined. Our beloved home and safe space is no longer an option to raise my daughter, and my only goal now is to afford to get her into a new permanent home.

People have been reaching out and asking what my family needs, and to be honest, we have gathered most of the basic daily essentials to just survive. Beyond that, my mind struggles to think of what else we need right now. What matters most is finding a safe place for my daughter to grow and heal. The funds raised will help cover moving costs, including first and last month’s rent, security deposit, cookware, beds, sheets, blankets, and other essential living needs for a new home.
