Over this last weekend, my mom's hometown of Globe, Arizona, was hit by a devastating flash flood. This flood has displaced families, shut down businesses, and taken lives.

Personally, although I do not live in Globe, this flood has affected my family greatly: my mom, Verna Gonzales, her six siblings (Walt, Cindy, Kathy, Karla, Karen, and Donald) along with their children and grandchildren.

We own a house that my grandparents built, right alongside a creek, which we still use every year to make tamales, celebrate Christmas, and to bring the family together. This house is used all throughout the year by family members and friends to experience the beauty and delights of Globe. But since we are right alongside the creek, we were right in the path of destruction. The flood tore through the house, leaving waterlines up to my chest, unending layers of mud and sediment, furniture destroyed, walls damaged, windows broken, and family heirlooms lost. We are asking for help.

We are so incredibly grateful for all the volunteers and organizations that have helped so far with shoveling, taking wreckage away, and using heavy machinery to remove massive amounts of mud, but there is still so much more work to do, so we are asking for donations to repair and rebuild this home we hold so near to our hearts.

We love this town and take pride that we are still stakeholders in the community, caring for the town and all that goes on in it. Every dollar from this fundraiser will go back into this house, and if we receive more than we need, we will use the funds to help our neighbors who also need all the help they can get.

We praise God for His faithfulness and that this house is still standing. We pray that it will be able to be passed down from generation to generation as a reminder of His faithfulness and of all those who have come before us.
