Help Us Rebuild: Health & Home for Our Family

My fiancé Christina and I have been facing a tough road for several years. I have nearly constant doctor’s appointments for heart and mental issues, as well as physical problems like psoriatic arthritis and GI problems. To keep up with my medical needs, I drive for an Amish crew, which allows me the flexibility to attend appointments, but the work is inconsistent and doesn’t pay much. Christina also has many health issues, but she lost her insurance about a year ago. She helps fill in for me when I have appointments, but she also needs to be available to help her aging parents, with whom we live, and her grandkids when their parents need her.

A few years ago, we fell into financial hardship that led to our eviction from our apartment. Chrissy's parents took us in, but this has led to cramped quarters and excess stress for everyone, and they would like us to move out. We struggle to keep any money in our bank account, and any time we put money in savings, we have to move it to the checking account before the next paycheck. This is due to the unpredictable nature of Amish work hours, as they can take time off with no notice. Our first priority is our physical and mental health, but those things are being affected by our current living situation. I have designs for a pseudo-tiny house that we would love to build on a small property near Chrissy's family, but even just getting enough for deposits and first month's rent on a small house or apartment would be life-changing for us.

Consistent healthcare for both of us would be incredible. Christina has untreated mental and physical issues that really need constant care, and they are degrading her quality of life. I, too, am dealing with ASD and ADHD, as well as currently untreated psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, a fungal infection in my lungs, various other physical (and personal) ailments. I have been dealing with tachycardia for years, and recently had an AFib episode that put me in the hospital. I just had an ablation done to help with those things, and not long before that I had two procedures to remove persistent cysts and I'm looking at another one soon. Before that I had to have part of my colon removed which required three months off of work. Being stuck in a place where we’re not truly accepted is increasing the mental health issues for both of us. Just to be on our own again, in our own place, not answering to the rules of someone else’s house would be an incredible relief. If you can donate anything, please know that we would be eternally grateful. Every little bit will help, because it can seem to be a long time between paychecks. Thank you to everyone who can afford the generosity.
