My name is Kendall, and I’m 21 years old. On Monday, my father got belligerently drunk and violent. He is a veteran, and I’ve tried to give him grace, but this incident changed everything. Over the last four days, I became the guardian of my 17-year-old brother. My brother and our father have a tumultuous past, and my 14-year-old brother is still with him. With our two older sisters living out of state, the responsibility of caring for my younger brother has fallen to me. My oldest sister just moved out, and my roommate, who is 20 and disabled, has barely moved in. Together, we’re doing our best to adjust to this sudden change.
