Help Us Rebuild After Family Emergency
Donation protected
My name is Kendall, and I’m 21 years old. On Monday, my father got belligerently drunk and violent. He is a veteran, and I’ve tried to give him grace, but this incident changed everything. Over the last four days, I became the guardian of my 17-year-old brother. My brother and our father have a tumultuous past, and my 14-year-old brother is still with him. With our two older sisters living out of state, the responsibility of caring for my younger brother has fallen to me. My oldest sister just moved out, and my roommate, who is 20 and disabled, has barely moved in. Together, we’re doing our best to adjust to this sudden change.
The incident left me with a black eye and a busted ankle. The past few days have been overwhelming. My job has been cutting hours, and my roommate has been struggling to find any work. We’re struggling to cover basic needs like housing, food, and medical care. My brother and I both need therapy, but my medical insurance has lapsed, and my injuries have made things even harder. My roommate is unable to take on my usual responsibilities, and the added stress has made daily life even more challenging. Despite these obstacles, we’re determined to keep our family together and support each other.
We’re hoping to find a safe place to live, as our current home is owned by our father and doesn’t feel secure. My brother has had to delay his college plans, and the emotional toll has been heavy on all of us. Your support would help us afford food, maintain our support animals, and move to a place where we can feel safe and start to rebuild. We need all the help we can get. Any support would mean the world to us and give my brother hope for a better future.
