My name is Charlie, and I never imagined I’d be in this position. Not long ago, I was able to provide for my family and handle life’s challenges as they came. But everything changed when my wife and I stepped in to care for a young child whose parents are both struggling with addiction. It was a decision made from the heart, knowing this little one needed a safe and loving home, but it’s come with sacrifices I never expected.

Since taking on this responsibility, I’ve had to stop working so I can be there for my wife and this child every day. My income has dropped to just 10% of what it was, and suddenly, the basics—home repairs, clothes, food, doctor’s visits, insurance, and daily essentials—have become overwhelming. These are things I could manage just a year ago, but now, with no steady income, I’m struggling to keep up. Every day is a challenge, but I’m determined to give this child the life he deserves.
