The Elizabeth Van Moore Foundation is asking for help to purchase original manuscripts, documents and objects from Hayes that will be sold the weekend of October 5th at Brunk Auctions in Asheville, NC. These items have been at Hayes since it was built in 1817. Most of these items belonged to Samuel Johnston, one of NC’s greatest patriots. These items help tell the story of Edenton, the state of North Carolina, and Hayes. If the Elizabeth Van Moore Foundation is successful, these items will remain at Hayes and be accessible to the public forever.
