This fundraiser is put together by my brother, Wesley Taylor and I, Anne Webster, on behalf of my grandmother, Myrtle Ann Slater. She is 95 years old and has been put on hospice care, Wesley and his wife Linda have been providing care for years since our father died and I have come up from Michigan to stay for a week and assume the caregiver role. She is to the point with her health and her dementia that she needs 24/7 care in a facility. We started that process this week but we have encountered some problems with qualifying her for Medicaid. We are dealing with the facility and the lawyer to have this resolved in 2-3 weeks but until that time, we have to pay out of pocket for her expenses. One month of private pay is $4900, the retainer for the lawyer is $500. We are asking for your help in this very difficult, stressful, and confusing time. For her whole life, my grandmother was there for anyone and everyone that needed her, at the church, at home, at the hospital and now she needs the help. UPDATE 3/18/25 We have hired a lawyer to complete the Medicaid application process (as suggested by the facility) for $2000. Nanny should be moving at the beginning of April. Any additional funds raised will pay for associated costs with her moving and getting her apartment cleaned out.
