Update: Dad’s Move and Next Steps

I wanted to share an update on my dad, James A. Dale. Our efforts to keep him in Boise or move him closer to family in Oregon were unfortunately not successful. Dad has since been moved to a care facility in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he now has a comfortable room and is settling in.

When I visited about a week after his move, I learned that he hadn’t been receiving his prescribed medications. I worked with the staff to ensure he received them right away and contacted his primary care doctor in Boise to help get the proper procedures in place. I also coordinated with his doctor’s office to make sure his new walker prescription was correctly transferred to the vendor in Coeur d’Alene.

During my second visit, there were some family tensions that made the situation more difficult, but my focus remains on Dad’s health, safety, and dignity. I continue to advocate for his care and ensure his medical and emotional needs are met.

My name is Mark Dale, youngest son of James A. Dale. My dad currently lives in Boise, Idaho, and we want to ensure he remains close to family and receives the love, dignity, and support he deserves. If he is ever moved, it should be to Newberg, Oregon, where he would be surrounded by family who can visit and care for him regularly.

In Newberg, Dad would have an incredible support system: his brother-in-law Walt is in a facility with room for him, another brother and sister-in-law live less than two miles away, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and I (living in Portland) would be able to visit him often. Most of our family feels this is the best place for him to be connected, loved, and cared for.

This GoFundMe is to help us make sure Dad’s next steps in care truly reflect what’s best for him—keeping him near the people who love him most. Any contribution helps, and even sharing this campaign makes a difference. Together, we can make sure Dad spends his remaining years surrounded by family, love, and dignity.
