My name is Al, and I have to work.
So does my sister!
Every few years, my sibling and I must renew our permits to keep our deferred status as DACA workers.
Please help us cover this expense.
This fundraiser will help us relieve the financial strain the fee puts on us in the leanest months of the year.
We are so grateful to be a part of the community patchwork we have been in for the past 20 years-- we would love to continue adding and mending to the quilt of our existence (resistance) here in MN.
This work permit allows us to work, drive and travel in the US. These are basic rights that we do not take lightly! Both of us are artists in our ways. If you keep up with that part of our lives, thank you immensely. Please share this out so we can continue to do that with the protection of the permit.
About the siblings: Al (They/them) is an acrylic artist in Minneapolis, the picture on this campaign is from a community gallery this summer. They aspire to continue to work in arts through 2023 and become further engrained in the local artist community through new mediums. Brenda (She/her) is a local Latinx art and entertainment culture bearer. She interviews and promotes Latinx businesses, educators, and other culture bearers, collecting their resources online in a public culture library.
