Help Us Move to Everett for Family and Health

Donation protected
Hello All,

My fiancée and I are moving to Everett, WA from Tennessee. We are on a fixed income and need assistance to get our stuff and our animals the 2,500+ miles in a U-Haul van.

The reasons for moving:
1) Family: My parents are still alive and living in Washington state. Pam's folks have passed. We really want to be close to my folks as they are not getting any younger and have had many health concerns lately.

2) Healthcare: Due to funding freezes and cuts to Medicaid, we are losing our access to healthcare. Pam's doctor has already emigrated to New Zealand for her and her daughter's future. Our local clinics are closing due to funding loss. Tennessee's premiere hospitals have lost grants including Vanderbilt and UT.

3) Economic: Since Tennessee businesses are non-union transportation, warehousing, farming, and tourism the current economic conditions are seeing mass layoffs, unpicked crops, and general decline. By moving to the Seattle metropolitan area, we will have more access to whatever aid remains due to better laws protecting tenants, a higher median income to calculate qualifying for programs, and more diverse options for part-time jobs.

4) Cultural: Tennessee continues to move backwards socially. TN was first to go after drag queens, we still have book burnings at churches, Dayton still celebrates the win in the Scopes Monkey Trial, and Pete Hegseth may be our next governor. We want a more inclusive and liberal place to live.

It will take about $5,200 to rent a van and drive cross country including insurance, auto fuel, food, and motels. We will need about $2,400 to cover a month in a motel or extended stay and food once we arrive. Our SSDI will allow us to more-or-less support ourselves once we make the trek. We will be able to put $3,000 toward the trip when we depart. This means we will need to raise about $4,600.

U-haul and trip = +$5,200
Rent and food = +$2,400
SSDI on depart = -$3,000

Needed = $4,600
