Help Us Make Waves for Dream Street in Chase's Memory
Tax deductible
I am incredibly excited to share with you my upcoming challenge and the reason behind it. From August 20th through the 21st, I will be taking on the daunting yet exhilarating challenge of swimming across the Catalina Channel with my close friend, Mike Gregory. But we will not be doing it just for the thrill or personal achievement; we will be swimming to raise funds for a cause that is very close to my heart: Camp Dream Street.
For those who do not know Chase Stecyk, I would like to shine a little light on his story. Chase was the epitome of joy, the embodiment of kindness, and the very essence of bravery. At the age of 6, Chase was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord tumor called Myxopapillary Ependymoma. His resilience knew no bounds as he endured seven surgeries, radiation, and chemotherapy over a five-year battle with his cancer. Throughout it all, he never lost his smile or his spirit. Chase was fortunate enough to be able to attend Dream Street where he was able to feel like a kid and experience camp activities just like everyone else his age.
From my memories of our childhood family trips with Chase and his family to Catalina Island and Mammoth Mountain, I was inspired by his unwavering strength and optimism. Chase's story is one of courage, boundless love, and indomitable spirit. He taught us the true meaning of resilience, grace, and the power of a joyful heart. Swimming this channel is my way of honoring his memory, his strength, and his enduring legacy. With each stroke, I carry his spirit with me, drawing inspiration from his courage and determination. Chase may no longer be with us, but his light shines on in the hearts of all who knew him. This swim is for you, Chase, a tribute to the sweetest, happiest, and the bravest soul I have ever known.
About Camp Dream Street:
Dream Street Foundation provides a haven for children with physical disabilities or mobility impairment, offering them a chance to experience the joys of childhood in a supportive and inclusive environment. Founded in 1975, the organization provides opportunities for these children to make friends, have fun, and learn from the challenges of group life. It is a place where they are not defined by their disabilities but can simply be kids.
As someone who deeply believes in the power of giving every child the chance to thrive, I am passionate about supporting Dream Street and their amazing staff. Their commitment to providing life-changing experiences for children with disabilities and/ or impairments is truly inspiring, and I want to do my part to ensure that they can continue their invaluable work.
How You Can Help:
I am reaching out to all of you to ask for your support in this endeavor. By donating to my fundraiser, you will not only be helping me reach my goal of completing the Catalina Channel swim, but you will also be making a meaningful difference in the lives of these children. Every dollar raised will go directly to Dream Street to support their programs and ensure that more children can benefit from the magic of this camp.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my journey and the cause I am supporting. Your generosity and support mean the world to me. Together, we can make a real difference and help create a world where every child, regardless of their abilities, can thrive and most importantly be a kid.
