Hello everyone! My name is Sterling and my best friends and roommates Ethan and Madhav in our second year of university started Common Grounds, a group to make meals for the homeless in London. We are raising funds to help offset the cost of ingredients for Common Grounds.

This idea started on a grocery run a couple of months ago, when my roommates and I saw a line of people stretching around the block of a shelter, waiting for food.

Unfortunately, this sight is not unfamiliar in London, where nearly 84,000 people - 1 in 6 households - face food insecurity, and homelessness has risen by nearly 20% from 2023 to 2024.

We started by inviting our friends over on weekends and making sandwiches to deliver to a local community shelter. We've already held a few events and have made around 700 sandwiches so far. These events have been awesome - some of the most fun and rewarding experiences I've had in university. It's been amazing to see others united in our cause, and taking the time out of their weekends to help. If you guys are reading this - thank you! :)

Unfortunately, the cost of ingredients has been quite high, and up until now, we've been covering it out of pocket. This is why we're reaching out for your support. Additionally, Costco is our supplier at this moment, but if anyone knows of other places in London where we can source ingredients, we’d love to hear your suggestions!

Just $1.40 covers the cost of a sandwich, but we would genuinely appreciate any contribution, no matter the amount. All funds will go towards ingredient costs, and with your donations, we aim to reach 1500 sandwiches by the end of the school year.

To extend the reach of this campaign, we are pledging to make one extra sandwich for every share this gets.
