A few months ago, I left the U.S. to begin building a safer and more stable life with my wife in Brazil.

Thanks to the generosity of friends, followers, and people who believed in us, we were able to make that move happen. The support we received helped cover flights, documentation like a passport and visa, an apartment, appliances, and the basic expenses that come with moving to a whole-ass other country.

From the beginning, we knew the immigration process would be one of the biggest expenses involved in making this move permanent. But now that we’re here and actively navigating it, the actual costs have become a lot clearer.

Between certified translations, securing official documents, international shipping, government fees, and meeting the financial requirements to qualify for residency, the costs have added up quickly.

Right now, our biggest challenge is balancing those immigration-related expenses while still covering normal, day-to-day living costs here in Brazil.

This fundraiser is meant to give us some breathing room while we work through that process. Any additional funds beyond the immediate immigration costs will stay set aside in case legal assistance or unexpected expenses come up along the way.

We’ve already built a life here together, and now we’re working toward making that life permanent.
