Help jij ons impact maken in Zuid-Afrika?

In oktober 2025 vertrekken wij – 24 studenten en 4 docenten van de opleiding Communicatie van Fontys Hogescholen – naar Zuid-Afrika. Niet alleen om een andere cultuur te ervaren en onze horizon te verbreden, maar ook om iets terug te doen.

We bezoeken onder andere Kayamandi, een township: een wijk aan de rand van de stad, ontstaan tijdens de apartheid om de zwarte bevolking apart te huisvesten. Tot op de dag van vandaag kampen veel townships met armoede, werkloosheid en geweld. Al sinds 2000 werken wij als opleiding samen met lokale initiatieven zoals Songo.info en Kayamandi High School.

Ook in Kaapstad zetten we ons in. Daar bezoeken we Action Volunteers Africa – een organisatie die jongeren helpt om hun toekomst opnieuw vorm te geven. Dat is hard nodig, want bijna de helft van de Zuid-Afrikaanse jongeren (15 tot 34 jaar) is werkloos.

En daarbij kunnen we jouw hulp goed gebruiken. Met jouw donatie ondersteunen we deze lokale initiatieven – en maken we samen impact waar het écht nodig is.

Will you help us make an impact in South Africa?

In October 2025, we – 24 students and 4 lecturers from the Communication programme at Fontys University of Applied Sciences – will travel to South Africa. Not just to experience a new culture and broaden our horizons, but also to give something back.

One of our destinations is Kayamandi, a township – a neighbourhood on the outskirts of the city, originally built during apartheid to segregate the Black population. To this day, many townships still face poverty, unemployment and violence. Since 2000, our programme has been working with local initiatives such as Songo.info and Kayamandi High School.

We're also getting involved in Cape Town, where we’ll visit Action Volunteers Africa – an organisation dedicated to helping young people reshape their futures. And that’s urgently needed: nearly half of South Africans aged 15 to 34 are unemployed.
