Together, We Can Make History ...

For years, we’ve watched as our Christian and Jewish neighbours proudly display their symbols of faith during festive seasons—a towering Christmas tree adorned with lights and a grand Hanukkah menorah shining brightly. These symbols are more than just decorations; they are powerful statements of presence, unity, and strength.

Now, for the first time, the Muslim community in Dorset has been granted approval by the BCP Council to display a 30ft-high Islamic crescent by the seafront. This crescent will be a beacon of hope, peace, and unity, visible from various angles, symbolising the vibrant presence of Muslims in Dorset and across the UK.

But we need your help to make this vision a reality.

Why This Matters

This crescent is more than just a symbol—it’s a message. A message that says:

• We belong. The Muslim community is an integral part of the UK’s diverse tapestry.

• We are united. This crescent will stand as a testament to the strength and unity of Muslims in the UK.

• We stand for peace. In a time when Islamophobia is on the rise, this crescent will send a powerful, peaceful message to combat prejudice and foster understanding.

We are trying hard to light the crescent during Ramadan- if funds are secured-, starting next year, it will be lit during Ramadan, the two Eids, and other significant occasions, becoming an annual tradition that brings people together in celebration and solidarity.

The Plan

We aim to:

1. Manufacture a 30ft-high crescent that will stand proudly by the seafront, visible to all.

2. Install the crescent securely to ensure it stands tall and safe for years to come.

3. Store the crescent for future displays, ensuring it can be reused annually.

4. Host an annual lighting ceremony to mark the beginning of Ramadan and Eid celebrations, creating a sense of community and joy.

We Need Your Support

Despite receiving approval, we cannot bring this project to life without your help. The initial cost of £12,000 will cover the manufacturing of the crescent, but we need an additional £3,000 to cover installation, storage, and ongoing logistics.
