Help Us Lay Our Beloved Mother, April “Nikki” Thompson-Purnell, to Rest

Due to unforeseen health complications, our family is heartbroken to share that we must now lay our mother, April Nicole Thompson-Purnell, to rest. Many knew her as Nikki — the heart and backbone of our family. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend who always put others before herself.

April was the proud and loving mother of Rodney “Taiwan,” Rashon, Ravonn, Justin, and Brandon. To each of us, she was more than a mother — she was our safe place, our strength, and our guiding light.

After losing one of her children, Rashon, our mom stepped in without hesitation to help raise his children and continue his legacy. When I (Justin) lost the mother of my twins, she became my rock — guiding me through grief and being a loving, devoted grandmother to my daughters.

Sadly, after enduring so much loss and hardship — including losing her job — my mother’s health began to decline in ways we didn’t realize. She was the strongest woman we knew, and we all believed she was okay… until she wasn’t.

Now, with her passing and the loss of her life insurance through work, we are facing the painful reality of planning her burial without the resources she once had. We’re asking for your kindness, compassion, and support to help us give our mother the peaceful farewell she truly deserves.

Any amount — no matter how small — will make a difference and mean the world to our family. Thank you for your love, prayers, and generosity during this heartbreaking time.
