WHO WE ARE

The Michael Streete Foundation (MSFDN) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting disadvantaged young people aged 13–31 to build brighter futures.

We equip young people with industry skills, confidence, and life changing opportunities through training, mentoring, creative programmes, apprenticeships, and real-world work experience.

Rooted in Greenwich, we understand the challenges local young people face and have a proven track record of delivering results.

The MSFDN Shop will deepen our impact here - and create a blueprint for change that we can scale across the country.

Our Impact to Date

800+ work experience placements delivered
100+ supporters, partners, and sponsors across a variety of industries
10 years working with underserved young people, businesses, schools, and non-profits across Greenwich
15,000+ young people supported locally through training, mentoring, and opportunities

We’ve already supported over 15,000 young people across the borough of Greenwich. Now, we’re launching something bold - a multi-purpose youth-led space in Greenwich that will give young people the skills, opportunities, and belief to build their future.

This isn’t just another charity shop. It’s a creative, training, and community hub, designed with young people, for young people, and it will stand as a powerful response to the challenges our community is facing.

THE INITIATIVE

The MSFDN Shop will be more than a charity shop.

It will be a multi-faceted youth hub in the borough of Greenwich, supporting today’s generation through training, creativity, community, and opportunity - while tackling some of the biggest societal and economic challenges young people face.

Your support will help us transform an empty high street unit into:

A charity shop selling high-quality clothing, shoes, and products, alongside items created by local young people – with all proceeds going back towards our life changing work.
A training ground offering real-world work experience, vocational skills, and pathways into employment and apprenticeships
A creative outlet where young people can connect, learn, and showcase their talents
A dynamic workspace and café for collaboration and inspiration, led by MSFDN Volunteers and Youth members
A wellbeing hub hosting regular events, workshops, and community drop-ins
A platform for youth-led exhibitions, performances, and entrepreneurship

This is not a short-term project - it’s a permanent, long-overdue investment in youth voice, skill, and potential. A place to belong. To build. TO BECOME.

Fit out the space with shelving, equipment, seating, and technology
Launch work experience placements, vocational training, activities, and events within the shop
Create a vibrant, accessible, youth-led hub that’s welcoming to all

Why Now?

Youth services across London have been cut to the bone.

Between 2010 and 2020, funding for youth services in England fell by over 70%
1 in 5 young people in London are not in education, employment, or training
Serious youth violence remains a major concern across South East London
Mental health referrals for young people in Greenwich have more than doubled since the pandemic

Many of the safe, supportive spaces that once existed here are now gone – just over 60% of our local youth members tell us they feel unseen, unsupported, and shut out in the community.

The MSFDN Shop is our answer: a safe, inspiring, and opportunity-rich space that is built for this generation’s needs.

WHY GREENWICH?

Our roots run deep here. For over a decade, we’ve worked alongside local young people, families, small businesses, schools, and the council - delivering training, mentoring, and opportunities to thousands.

We know the challenges. We see the talent. We understand what it takes to create lasting change.

That’s why we’re launching the MSFDN Shop in Greenwich first - in the community that shaped our mission and continues to inspire our work.

And this is just the start. This will be the first of many MSFDN Shops, part of our bold vision to regenerate high streets and redefine youth support across London and the UK.
