We are a group of motivated high school students from Science Hill High School in Johnson City, TN, coming together to launch our school’s first-ever iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) team. iGEM is a prestigious, global synthetic biology competition where students design real-world biological solutions to pressing problems in health, sustainability, and the environment.
Starting a brand-new team from the ground up is exciting—but also expensive.
To officially compete, we must cover team registration fees, as well as the lab supplies, materials, and safety equipment needed to design, test, and present our project. As a new team without institutional funding yet, we are turning to our community for support.
Where Your Donation Goes
Your contribution will directly support:
- iGEM competition registration fees
- Laboratory supplies (reagents, consumables, basic equipment)
- Safety materials and compliance requirements
- Project development and presentation costs
- Travel Costs
Every dollar helps us move closer to competing on the international stage and gaining hands-on experience in real scientific research.
Why This Matters
iGEM isn’t just a competition—it’s an opportunity for students to:
- Conduct college-level scientific research
- Collaborate in interdisciplinary teams
- Develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Explore careers in biotechnology, medicine, and engineering
By supporting us, you’re not just funding a team—you’re investing in the next generation of scientists, innovators, and problem-solvers.
Thank you so much for believing in our vision and helping us take this first step. We’re incredibly grateful for any support you can give—whether that’s a donation or sharing our fundraiser with others!
