Hi,

My name is Shireen, and this is our story.

Recently, my friend Teresa was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer and is undergoing treatment. Listening to her concerns about hair loss, body changes, and being unable to work, I see firsthand what women go through after such a devastating and life-changing diagnosis.

As a career nonprofit professional in healthcare, education, and consulting, I knew I had the experience and knowledge to support Teresa through her journey. I searched the area for wellness programs Teresa would benefit from. I asked our friend Lisbet, a cancer survivor, what programs she benefited from. Lisbet's reply, "There weren't any. I had a family and a mortgage and never stopped working." To my surprise, no such programs exist in Northern Virginia!

Together with our friends, we decided to create a nonprofit: Luna Wellness Center for Women with Cancer. We want every woman living with cancer to have access to free online programs with a physical space within a year.

Luna was incorporated in January 2026. We have an EIN, registered in the state of Virginia, a bank account, a team, and a simple business plan.

The first phase and priority of our fundraising is to raise 2K. We urgently need $250 to apply for our 501(c)(3). The balance will cover business insurance, software, website development, and marketing materials. Once we receive our nonprofit status, we can get a .org email address, build a website, and apply for corporate grants.
