About Us
We are four students from New York City who came together to start a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to challenging the harmful and unrealistic beauty standards amplified by social media. What began as conversations among friends quickly grew into a mission shaped by both lived experience and urgency.
Within our own families and communities, we have witnessed the devastating impact of toxic beauty expectations, especially the ways they contribute to disordered eating, low self-worth, and long-term mental health struggles. For many of us, this includes seeing how cultural pressures, particularly within Asian communities, can intensify these issues through colorism, diet culture, and harmful beauty practices.
Our Mission
We exist to raise awareness, educate, and create change around the mental health consequences of unrealistic beauty standards, especially their role in the rise of eating disorders among young people.
As a youth-led and family-informed initiative, we center:
- Mental health and prevention
- Honest conversations about eating disorders and their roots
- The intersection of culture, identity, and beauty standards
- The real impact of social media on self-image
What We Do
Through our nonprofit, we aim to:
- Create accessible, research-backed content about body image, eating disorders, and cultural beauty norms
- Build safe, supportive spaces where young people can share, learn, and heal
- Partner with therapists, dietitians, and cultural experts to ensure accurate and meaningful education
- Advocate for healthier, more inclusive representations of beauty—both online and in our communities
- We also use creative storytelling, especially digital art and social media, to make these conversations more engaging, relatable, and widely shared.
Why We Need Your Support
We are in the early stages of building this organization, from creating educational content and hosting community programs to developing partnerships and resources for youth and families.
Your support will help us:
- Launch our platform and website
- Produce educational content and workshops
- Collaborate with mental health professionals
- Expand outreach to schools and communities
- Build a sustainable, youth-driven movement
Our Vision
With your help, we can create a future where young people, especially those navigating cultural expectations, feel seen, supported, and empowered to define beauty on their own terms.
