Help us keep the Lifeguard program alive
Donation protected
Please help us keep the lifeguard program alive. Why do they need help? We want to raise money for three reasons:
1. The municipality had paid for four lifeguards and they worked 6 days per week. Their contract ends on January 1st and so will need to be paid by our community through our lifeguard association, a legal and local not for profit group. To give them enough time and resources, we need to hire at least 6 lifeguards working 5 days a week. That means raising $100,000 each year.
2. We also want to hire a lifeguard trainer, someone who can show new employees how to save lives on the beaches of Dominical and Playa Hermosa de Uvita. Someone who coordinates a junior lifeguard program and arranges re-training of experienced guards in the latest livesaving and first aid techniques.
3. If possible we would love to buy a jetski for them so they are able to attend to aquatic emergencies with more efficiency and speed. The lifeguards also need funds to maintain the ATV they were donated in 2022 and keep their other equipment up to date.
The funds go directly to the Costa Ballena Lifeguard Association
And very good news! We have two local residents who generously decided to match whatever we collect by 25% each , for a total of 50%.
Please help us keep this program alive, so they can continue supervising the safety and rescue of kids, swimmers, surfers, and other water sports participants.
