Hi, my name is Addy(23F), my autistic brother Connor(23M) and I recently lost our Dad (Douglas) after 2 hard years of struggling to beat stage 4 esophageal cancer. I never imagined me and my family would be in this position, but after encouragement from friends and family, I’ve decided to ask for some help. My Dad built our family home from the ground up and it means so much to us to try and keep it in the family. The home holds a lot of sentimental value to us and my late Dad, and is also the resting place of our dog Shadow, who also passed away just last year. It was our Dad’s “happy place” and where so many of our greatest family memories occurred.

Our whole family is absolutely devastated by his loss and the property is one of the last pieces we have of our Dad and we want to do everything we can to hold onto it. Unfortunately, there is a mortgage and there will be significant taxes, which will make this difficult.

Making this harder is the fact that my brother is unable to work due to his autism, and I am still pursuing my education and working. We are fortunate to be supported and well cared for by our Mom while we work through the estate process however, there are ongoing expenses that are not easy for us to manage.
