Help Us Keep Our Dad, Jorge Luna, Home Where He Belongs

I am writing this on behalf of Joan and Diego Luna. We thought we would have more time to gather funds for their father’s court representation, but we have just learned that his hearing is now only a week away—on September 23rd. Jorge has spent 25 years building a life here; now we only have days to fight for him to stay.

On Wednesday morning, September 3rd, Jorge Luna was detained during what we assumed would be a routine traffic stop on his way to work. He was simply waiting to pay his fine in Collin County for unpaid traffic tickets when ICE unexpectedly appeared and took him into custody. For two long days, his family had no idea where he was or if he was safe. Finally, he was able to make a brief one-minute call from the Dallas Field Office to let them know he was okay. The next day, we learned that he had been formally transferred to Prairieland Detention Center.

Due to his sudden and abrupt absence, the numerous workers and community members who depend on him financially have been left struggling to make ends meet. Jorge has lived in the U.S. for over 25 years, building his life here and forming deep connections with those around him. His removal would affect many lives, but none more deeply than those of his children. The following are words written directly by them:

(Diego)
At this very moment, my dad is being held at Prairieland Detention Center. He has lived here for over 25 years, working hard to provide for us. Now we face the uncertainty of not knowing when he will come home or what his future will be. If you can donate, please know that anything helps. This fundraiser will go toward covering legal fees, communication costs, and basic needs—all in the hope of bringing him back. Thank you for anything you can do to support us during this time.

(Joan)
These are some of the darkest times we have faced, and things only seem to grow harder. My dad’s detention has caused so much sadness and anxiety for our family and close friends. He is a good man, a loving father, and while he has his flaws like anyone else, he has always been there for my brother and me. It breaks my heart to know he is sitting in a detention center. His absence has left a hole in our lives that cannot be replaced. I am trying to repay even a fraction of the love and support he has given us by doing all I can to help him return home. We are praying every day for his release, and we humbly ask for your help—whether through donations, prayers, or simply sharing our story. Thank you so much for your kindness and for keeping us in your thoughts.
