Help Us Fight for Justice for Logan
My name is Dean Tipton. I am Logan Tipton’s father. Alongside my wife, Heather, and our children—Koral, Dakota, Aiden, and Lilly—we have spent over a decade carrying an unimaginable weight. On December 7, 2015, our lives were shattered forever. An intruder broke into our home here in Versailles and murdered our precious six-year-old boy, Logan James Dean Tipton, while he slept. I was also violently assaulted along with Logan’s sisters. It was a nightmare we relive everyday.
In a devastating turn during the 2018 trial, the killer was found "not guilty by reason of insanity" for Logan’s murder, yet "guilty but mentally ill" for the assaults on the rest of us. This legal loophole meant he was scheduled to walk free on July 29, 2026, after serving only a fraction of a 20-year sentence.
Our Battle for "Logan's Law"
For years, Heather and I, alongside our children, have refused to let Logan's death be the end of his story. We turned our deepest grief into a fierce, relentless battle to change the law so no other family would ever have to suffer the way we have.
Because of your support and our family's tireless advocacy, Logan’s Law (House Bill 422) was officially signed into law in April 2026. This landmark legislation helps fix the broken system by ending split verdicts in violent crime sprees, strengthening violent offender laws, and delaying parole eligibility for life sentences.
We achieved this monumental victory for future families. But the painful reality we face today, on July 15, 2026, is that this new law does not retroactively stop our son's killer from being released this month.
The Fight is Not Over—And We Need Your Help
We struggle, suffer, and grieve daily. The trauma of that night revisits us constantly, and the anxiety of what lies ahead is overwhelming. Yet, our family refuses to back down.
To ensure the justice system is held fully accountable, and to exhaust every single avenue to protect our family and community, we have retained attorneys. We are actively pursuing other legal remedies, challenges, and civil avenues.
But fighting the system is incredibly expensive. The cost of retaining specialized legal counsel, managing administrative hurdles, and maintaining this fight places a massive financial burden on our family. We have given everything we have, and we simply cannot do this alone anymore. We need your love, your prayers, and your financial support to keep going.
Keeping Logan’s Love and Legacy Alive
Logan was an absolute angel on earth. He loved everyone unconditionally, reflecting a pure, selfless love like Jesus. He was too good for this world, and we are determined to make sure his light is never extinguished.
By supporting this fund, you are standing shoulder-to-shoulder with us. Your donations will help us:
Pay our attorney fees and legal expenses as we pursue every legal avenue to hold the system accountable.
Cover the ongoing costs of our advocacy work as we help other families navigate this deeply flawed justice system.
Keep Logan's memory and legacy alive through our continued fight for systemic change.
Credibility & Transparency Disclaimer:
Every single dollar raised through this GoFundMe goes directly to my wife Heather and me. These funds will be managed strictly to pay our attorneys, cover legal expenses, and support our family and our ongoing legal battle and advocacy efforts to get justice for Logan.
Thank you for wrapping our family in your love, standing by us in our darkest hours, and helping us keep up the fight.
With all our love and gratitude,
Dean Tipton & Family
