When the world shut down, art opened doors.
I'm Kate. During lockdown, when my art classroom closed, I couldn't bear to leave people without support. So I found an empty shop and created Kate Tulett Art 4 All.
What started as a way to help people cope with lockdown has grown into something far beyond what I imagined. This little space has become a sanctuary, not just for young people, but for an
one who struggles to find their place in the world.
Every week, I watch transformation unfold. Young people who arrive withdrawn and anxious, discover their voice through paintbrushes and clay. But it isn't only young people. It's the older gentleman who comes in for a chat and goes home with one of my books. It's the friends I know are struggling who pop in for a cup of tea, no art required, just somewhere to sit and be heard. This was never meant to be just an art space. It is a caring space, where people of any age come to feel seen, loved and heard.
I recently received Highly Commended at the NSEAD Awards 2026 for this work. The judges described my approach as compassionate and trauma informed, and said I have created a safe, nurturing space where people rebuild confidence, identity and emotional wellbeing through creative practice. It meant more than I can put into words.
I reached this exact point last year, and you helped enormously. Thanks to your support, I was able to fund a full year of sessions for some young and not so young people who needed it most. That made a real difference, and I am so grateful.
Now, going into this new academic year, I have made the decision to give up my teaching job to concentrate fully on this work, especially after receiving this award. I am also applying for
grants, but it is a brutally competitive field, with far more need than funding available, and no guarantee of success or timescale I can rely on. I want to help more people, not fewer. But that means I need this space to be sustainable now, and people on my team to help us grow as I can no longer physically do that alone.
For just £35, we can run a 2 hour session that might be the difference between someone feeling lost and finding hope. That's less than the cost of a night out but it could change someone's entire trajectory.
Every donation means that it remains a safe space for people who don't fit the traditional mould, for those dealing with anxiety and mental health challenges, a place to support neurodiverse individuals who need understanding, not judgment. A cup of tea, a hug and a listening ear for anyone who simply needs to feel less alone.
I've dedicated my life to proving that art can heal, that creativity can transform, and that everyone deserves a place where they belong. With this recogniton behind me, and my full focus now on the studio, I need your help to take this work further.
Please help me continue this work. These people are worth fighting for, every single donation, no matter the size, keeps hope alive for someone who desperately needs it.
forever grateful
Kate x
