Hi, my name is Jes. My daughter Athena and I have lived at our 5 acre farm Apocalypse Acres since June of 2020. When we moved in we signed a lease and agreed to purchase the property when we were able. My husband Carl and I started making plans to purchase Apocalypse Acres about a year ago and even obtained an appraisal, but then in October he died. This threw me into such a deep and devastating grief that I couldn't even work much less anything more than just surviving. At that time the landlord told me not to worry, as long as I was paying my rent I could wait to purchase the house. My new plan was to purchase in winter of 2022/23.

I have been back to work at a permanent hospice nursing job now for 4 months, I had just caught up on bills and was beginning to fix my credit after months of depressed neglect, but then I received a phone call that my landlord had hired a real estate agent and it was now or never.

Almost all of the 40+ animals at Apocalypse Acres have been rescued. We could downsize (and we are downsizing some) and move but there's nothing out there (I've looked and looked!) and I'm not sure that I have the emotional strength to leave the place that was supposed to be Carl's and my forever home.

I was able to get a pre-approval to purchase, but the small down payment and closing costs are more than I can unexpectedly cover at this time. If you know me, you'll know I work my butt off and this time is no different but I need help! As much as I hate that I can't do this myself. My daughter and these rescued animals deserve a stable and happy home. I am working over time, I am selling what I can, I am doing every thing I can think to do and the help that I get from this gofundme will go directly towards the closing costs. (I will likely be able to get Homes For Heroes to cover some, but the lender estimated that I'd only get about $10k.)
