The Humanitarian Society of Vancouver will be travelling to India this winter to support the Unique Home Orphanage, located in Jalandhar, Punjab. Unique Home is a girls' orphanage which aims to support these children as healthy individuals and arm them with all the social skills and educational qualifications that they need to face life on their own terms.
Established on May 17th, 1993, the Unique Home has looked after unwanted, unclaimed or orphan children whom society shuns. The baby girls have been found by roadsides, dumped by running water, or even left during the night in the baby cradle outside the home. Unique Home has the aim of moral, social, cultural and economic uplift of orphan children without any distinction of caste, creed and religion. To raise these children as enlightened and self-respecting citizens and restore them to their due place in society is a very hard task that requires a mass, social effort.
Why donate?
- Support the education of 80 girls, with funds being used for admission and tuition fees, bus charges, books, uniforms, school bags, lunches, and water bottles
- Mobilize the Unique Home in looking after unwanted, unclaimed, or orphan children from various castes, religions, and backgrounds
- Aid their team in maintaining a baby cradle, where families may leave their children so that they can have a safe place to receive care
- Show your support for a group that has been providing selfless service since 1993
Our team members will be personally visiting the orphanage in Jalandhar, Punjab to donate these funds in February 2023. Your support can help make a difference in the lives of numerous children at the Unique Home Orphanage.
