My name is Chelsea, and I am the second daughter of Katrina Jane McClelland (aka Alexander). I am reaching out on behalf of my family during one of the hardest times of our lives, as we try to come to terms with the devastating loss of our beloved mum. Two years ago, our world was turned upside down when Mum was diagnosed with cancer of the femoral artery. It came as a complete shock to us all. Despite the fear and uncertainty, we held on tightly to hope as doctors began treatment, and Mum faced everything that came her way with courage and determination. She endured gruelling rounds of chemotherapy, which left her weak, unwell, and robbed her of her hair, her appetite, and at times even the radiant glow she always carried with her. Even through the pain and exhaustion, she pushed forward, trying every possible treatment in the hope of buying more time with us, her family. Unfortunately, the battle only grew harder. After fighting so bravely, Mum was given further crushing news, a rare sarcoma had developed, along with lung cancer, which then spread to her heart wall. Despite all of her efforts and ours to support her, we were told there was nothing more that could be done medically and our only option left was to make her as comfortable as possible and surround her with love. That news shattered our hearts and changed our family forever. Over these years, the toll has not only been emotional but also financial. Between ongoing medical bills, everyday living costs, and now the expenses of giving Mum the farewell she so deeply deserves, we are struggling. I myself have had to take time off work to comprehend this. Our dad, who has been our rock through all of this, has had to take an extended time away from work to care for Mum and support us, his daughters, as we navigate this painful journey together. Our little family unit...Dad, my two sisters Nikita and Tori, myself, and Mum’s beautiful dog Narlah, who she adored and who misses her terribly and we are all trying to cope with both grief and the financial strain that comes with such an overwhelming loss. This is why I am humbly reaching out to our community, friends, and anyone willing to lend a hand. We are asking for support to help us manage the financial burdens that come with losing someone so dear, so that we can focus on grieving, healing, and finding some stability again as a family. Any contribution, no matter how small, would make a meaningful difference to us during this incredibly difficult time. There is absolutely no pressure, and we understand that not everyone is able to give but if you are, please know that your kindness will be received with the deepest gratitude. Our mum was not only the heart of our family but also an incredible, selfless woman who touched so many lives with her warmth, strength, and love. We want to honour her memory in the best way we can, while also making sure that our dad, who gave everything to be by her side, can find some breathing space as we all try to put the pieces of our lives back together. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our story and for holding us in your thoughts. Any support, whether through donations, kind words, or simply sharing our story, means the world to us. Anything helps.
