After years of hoping, grieving, and holding onto faith, we are reaching out for support on one of the most meaningful journeys of our lives.
We have long dreamed of becoming parents. We experienced two miscarriages, then became pregnant again, only to suffer a devastating full-term stillbirth of our beautiful daughter Nadine Chloe, who was strangled by her umbilical cord and buried on her due date. Her perfect little hand and foot are pictured on this page as we wanted to include her in this journey. Despite overwhelming grief, and another miscarriage just five months later, we held onto our Christian faith, and the hope that one day we might have a child to love and care for.
We were advised a donor would be our best hope, and we pursued 'embryo adoption'. Generous people who have embryos left over from their own IVF can offer others who cannot conceive, a chance to carry, nurture, and give the embryo a full life. Sadly, we found out last week that our first transfer was unsuccessful. While this was a very painful setback, it has only strengthened our desire to become parents.
It breaks our hearts when we look at all the adorable clothes, empty crib and pram we had for Nadine. The prospect of embryo adoption gives us real hope of seeing another baby in them - and of finally seeing each other become parents. We don't believe our story is over yet.....That’s why we have had to swallow our pride, step out of our comfort zone and ask for your help.
Although less than traditional IVF, the costs involved with embryo adoption are still significant - nearly £5,000 a time, including medical procedures, medications and travel.
Your support would go directly towards:
• Embryo adoption fees including scans, blood tests and the transfer of the precious frozen embryo.
• Fertility medications to prepare the womb and sustain the embryo once transferred.
• Travel costs - the nearest clinic with embryos available is 250 miles away.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, would be very greatly appreciated and would bring us one step closer to the possibility of having the family we have dreamed of for so long. If you’d like to help, but are unable to donate, sharing this page with others would be really helpful.
Thank you for reading our story. We would be humbled if you could be part of our journey. You are welcome to send a message or ask any questions.
With sincere gratitude,
Ben and Lisa
This bible verse encourages us as we believe we are all 'adopted' -
"In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will". Ephesians 1:5
