Help Us Grow Our Family

Our Story: Megan and I dated in High School for 3 1/2 years, we went our separate ways and found each other again in 2009.
In 2010 I was diagnosed and had two surgeries for testicular cancer. There were potential consequences with those surgeries and we prepared for them just in case. Good thing we did, because afterwards we had to seek alternate means to grow our family. In early 2011 my cancer came back and I underwent chemotherapy, just enough of my hair grew back in time for our wedding in August of the same year.

By 2012, I had regained my health and strength and we went to Megan's cardiologist to explore IVF. The news from her Dr. was not what we expected, Megan's aortic valve had grown, instead of growing our family, Megan had to undergo open heart surgery. Our options at this time were to implant a pig valve (she can give birth, but is pretty much guaranteed a second open heart surgery in her 60's) or an artificial valve (good for life, but Megan cannot give birth without risking her life). The choice for us was easy, one open heart surgery in a lifetime is enough. By early 2014 when Megan had fully regained her health and strength, we took a break. We had endured the "in sickness" part of marriage, we wanted to enjoy the "in health" part for a bit. In 2017 we were ready. We decided adoption was the path for us to grow our family and set the plan in action. We sold our condo and moved in with Megan's parents to save money. After researching various agencies and lawyers, in early 2018 we decided to work with Adoptions From The Heart and by the end of 2018 we are on the active waiting list for a child. And thats our story. We started the GoFundME page to raise money for various costs associated with this whole process including Lawyer fees, hotel stays in the state of the birth mother and agency fees. We thank you for taking the time to read our story and check out our site!
