Help Us Give Our Close Family Member a Bright and New Future

Donation protected
Hi everyone, I truly appreciate your time in taking a moment to read this. We’re raising funds because a close family member needs our help. He has been struggling with drug addiction for some time now. Today is his 20th birthday and he still has so much life ahead of him. He has always been a sweet and kind boy. He wants to get back to being himself and is now making the life changes he needs to turn his life around.

I wanted to share an excerpt from my family member’s letter with you in which she initially reached out to my siblings and me as well as our dad for help. This should paint the picture for you:

“I am writing about my son and the addiction issues he has been experiencing. You may or may not know he has been struggling for years now. It started with marijuana, but over the last 2 years things have become dire as he has moved on to using opioids and barbiturates and anything else he can get his hands on. He has nearly overdosed, been held at gunpoint, sold everything to buy drugs, has stolen, lied to everyone including myself, lost his scholarships, lost every job he has had due to coming in to work high or not at all. Although he has been to several rehabs over the last 2 years, he has continued to relapse each time. The saddest thing is he knows he is stuck in this cycle and is so tired of it. At his core he is such a good, smart, sweet guy but the drugs take all that away from him. He has been sleeping on the street, in abandoned buildings and who knows where else. He has been on nearly every drug you can name and some I had never heard of. Eating makes him throw up so he is severely malnourished; his appetite is non-existent and he has dropped to under 130 pounds at 6’ 2”. He tells me he wishes he was just normal and could escape the cravings and obsession. He lacks self-esteem, life skills and hope. He hates how he acts, how he treats people, how low he has gone, but feels confused and desperate. I am aware and terrified that if he continues this path he will die. It has all been a nightmare!

The good news is now he is asking for help and is optimistic about Narconon! This is a place I truly believe can and will help him. It seems different than any of the other rehabs he has been to and I feel like this may be the answer I was begging the universe for.

My dad called to implore me to consider asking him to go through the Narconon program and after reading the information on the program, I am all in! I thought I would ask if you all would consider helping us to make this happen with a donation to get him well and save his life. I have spent all my savings, my retirement money and borrowed from my mother to spend on his rehabs over the last nearly 2 years and I am pretty tapped out at this point. But I will never give up on my son.”

Since she wrote this letter a lot has happened! We have made great progress and collectively gotten all but $5,750 raised to pay for the program! The original total was 21K, so as you can see, we’ve come a long way already.

Also, here is a progress report on how things are going now and where it stands:

He is now at Narconon going through the program!!!! He’s been through several days and working through the first step which is withdrawal. He is now eating and sleeping and in much better spirits. He asked if he could call his mom for his 20th birthday (which is today), and when they asked if he just wanted to call her to ask her to come get him, his response was - “No way! This place is dope – I’m not going anywhere!”

We are all very excited about his progress and hopeful for his future! All that’s left is to help close the final payment of $5,750 so she can get her son back.

Any amount you’re willing to contribute is so greatly appreciated, and if you can’t contribute financially at this time, a share with your friends and family would mean the world to us. Thank you for your compassion and kindness in this holiday season.
