At just 39 years old, our beautiful Kayele has been fighting for her life.

12 years ago, whilst pregnant with her son Archie, Kayele almost died after suffering a tear in her aorta. She underwent life-saving surgery and was fitted with mechanical heart valves.

Against all odds, she survived.

But earlier this year, tragedy struck again.

Whilst driving, a large blood clot broke away from Kayele’s heart and travelled to her brain, causing a catastrophic stroke.

She was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital, where she underwent an emergency thrombectomy to remove the clot.

The following day, Kayele suffered a devastating bleed on her brain. Her family were faced with the heartbreaking decision to consent to further life-saving surgery — a decompressive craniectomy to relieve the swelling and pressure on her brain.

Kayele survived, but was placed into a medically induced coma.

Seven days later, when doctors reintroduced the blood-thinning medication she requires for her mechanical heart valves, she suffered another brain bleed and needed further emergency surgery.

For 20 agonising days, her family waited, hoping and praying she would wake up.

And then, against all odds, she did. ❤️

Kayele eventually came off the ventilator and began breathing independently. She is now at Furness General Hospital in Barrow.

But her fight is far from over.

Kayele is paralysed down her right side, and her speech and ability to communicate have been severely affected.

She is receiving physiotherapy and speech therapy, but she desperately needs more intensive specialist neurological rehabilitation to give her the best possible chance of recovery.

Unfortunately, Kayele has only been funded for 12 weeks of NHS rehabilitation, and due to her previous medical history, private medical insurance was unaffordable.

Specialist private neurological rehabilitation can cost an estimated £4,500–£8,500 PER WEEK.

That means six months of rehabilitation alone could cost £117,000–£221,000.

And sadly, due to the severity of her stroke, Kayele is likely to need ongoing care, therapy and support for the rest of her life. Her long-term needs may include specialist equipment, mobility assistance and continued rehabilitation.

That’s why we’re trying to raise an initial £150,000 to help fund specialist rehabilitation and ongoing recovery support.

❤️ Above everything, we want Kayele to have the best possible quality of life with her two sons, C-Jay and Archie.

To be able to communicate with them, tell them she loves them, share memories and hopefully regain the ability to walk and enjoy everyday life with her boys.

Nobody can promise what Kayele’s recovery will look like, but we want to give her every possible opportunity.

Kayele has already fought for her life twice. Now it’s our turn to fight for her future. ❤️

Please, if you can spare anything at all, no matter how small, it would mean the world to us.

And if you can’t donate, please share. Every share could make a difference.

Let’s give Kayele the chance to live, not just survive. ❤️
