We are reaching out with full hearts to ask for help in purchasing a wheelchair‑accessible vehicle for our beautiful daughter, Delilah.
Delilah is 3.5 years old, and from the moment she arrived — at just 24 weeks — she has shown a strength and resilience that inspires everyone who meets her. Despite her tiny start to life, she has fought through more challenges than most of us will face in a lifetime.
Delilah lives with Level 5 Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Cortical Vision Impairment, Chronic respiratory illness that often lead to long hospital stays, Global developmental delay, and short gut syndrome, which means she depends completely on her feeding tube to grow, stay hydrated, and receive her medications.
Because of Delilah’s extensive care needs, I have become her full‑time carer. Rob has taken on the weight of being the sole financial provider for our family, doing everything he can to support us while we try to give both of our children the safest, happiest life possible.
To give Delilah every chance to thrive, we spend a huge part of each week travelling to appointments — physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, vision therapy, dietetics — along with regular visits to her medical specialists in neurology, gastroenterology, respiratory care, genetics, and orthopaedics. Delilah also attends a special development school program and specialised respite care. And, of course, our 5‑year‑old son Grayson needs to be dropped off and picked up from school and his own activities, all while trying to keep family life as normal as possible.
All of this travel is essential for Delilah’s development, health, and quality of life — but it has become harder and harder to manage. In the coming months, Delilah will receive her wheelchair and walker. These are life‑changing tools for her, but they simply do not fit in our current car, which means we won’t be able to transport her safely to the appointments she depends on.
A wheelchair‑accessible van would change everything. It would mean safety, dignity, comfort, and freedom for Delilah. It would allow her to attend her therapies without stress, to take part in family outings, to explore the world around her, and to be included in everyday life in a way that every child deserves.
As parents, we want nothing more than to give our daughter the best possible chance to grow, to learn, and to experience joy. Asking for help is not easy. But the truth is, we cannot do this alone.
If you are able to contribute — no matter the amount — it would mean more to our family than we could ever express. And if you are unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser would help us more than you know.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read Delilah’s story, and for any support you can offer. Your kindness truly makes a difference in our lives.
With love and gratitude,
