Hi, my name is Desire, and I am fundraising to help my family get a much-needed family van.

First and foremost, thank you for clicking on this link and taking the time to read our story.

As many of you may know, I have a special needs child, Eyden. Eyden is my firstborn, and I had him when I was 17 years old. He is my light and my strength, and he made me a mother.

At age 3, Eyden was diagnosed with Autism. Later, at 7, he was diagnosed with a Chromosome Abnormality known as 8p duplication and deletion syndrome. This is a rare condition with few documented cases, making our boy truly exceptional. Over the years, we've undergone numerous tests to find the best ways to support Eyden, leading to many changes and challenges.

In 2019, Eyden's mobility began to decline. Living in NYC during the pandemic meant that many of his resources were suddenly unavailable. Fast forward to 2024, our beautiful boy is now 15, and his mobility has significantly decreased. He now relies on an adaptive stroller and requires frequent doctor visits and tests.

After moving to Virginia, we were fortunate to buy an older car from friends. This car has been a blessing, helping us get to Eyden's appointments and my husband to work. However, in recent months, the car has been breaking down more frequently and has become a tight squeeze for Eyden and his little sister.

Long drives to the doctor are increasingly challenging. Fitting Eyden’s adaptive stroller in the trunk, along with everything else we need for these trips, is difficult. Eyden is tall and needs ample space to be comfortable and have his own space. We do our best to ensure both him and his sister are as comfortable as possible, but our current vehicle is no longer sufficient.

We are raising funds for a new family van that can accommodate Eyden's needs and make our daily lives a little easier. Your support would mean the world to us, allowing Eyden to travel comfortably and safely to his appointments.

The money that we fundraise here is to help us add to what we have already been saving towards getting our family van. We’ve been working hard on our own to save but the truth of the matter is at that we do need support with the way our current car is running it seems sooner rather than later like we hoped.
