Help us to raise funds for a defibrillator for Coleorton

Hi, my name is Natalie and I live in Coleorton. For the last 12 months I’ve been encouraging our Parish Council to purchase and install a defibrillator on Beaumont Green, central to Lower Moor where lots of our villagers live.
Why? We have 3-5 minutes to access a defib. Whilst funds have been raised to install a device at The Kings Arms on the Moorlands, I strongly believe we need another device closer to the large community in this part of the village.
My stepfather sadly died at my side at the age of 40, when I was just 15 years’ old. If we’d have had access to a defibrillator, I believe he may have survived.
These life saving devices should be within a few minutes of each of us and installed in the places where we live, work and spend our leisure time.
If someone has a cardiac arrest, a defibrillator can help restart their heart while you’re waiting for the emergency services to arrive.
Getting a defibrillator for our community is vital because:
- there are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests in the UK each year and currently less than 1 in 10 survive
- without immediate intervention with a defibrillator, most cardiac arrests are fatal
- every minute without CPR and a defibrillator, reduces survival chances by up to 10%.
Lets pull together to raise funds for our community, so that we can have a defibrillator on our village green that may well save the life of our family and friends,
Thank you.
