Our Back Story:

Our story started with a group of mates who loved playing football together and wanted to do something special for our community.

For years, Matt Cooke, Owen Cooper, Tom Page, Jayden Hobbs, and Riley Orchard spent countless hours playing football in the local park. “Monday Night Football” was the highlight of our week as kids, and those memories still bring a smile to our faces now, even in our mid-twenties.

As we grew older, life naturally got busier with studying, work, and chasing our own goals. But even with that, football was always the one thing that kept us connected.

That’s really where the idea of Yeoford Old Boys came from. After attending a charity football tournament and seeing what a great day it was, Matt and Owen came away thinking it would be class to create something of their own. Not just to recreate the occasion, but to build a team, keep the group together, and create something that could also give back to the local community and support important charities.

Our first tournament in 2024 was amazing. We hosted eight teams, had a lot of fun in the roaring heat, and raised money for some valuable causes.

Seeing how successful it was and how much happiness it brought to both ourselves and the competing players, the lads thought, “screw it, we’ve created this tournament now — we can’t just stop here, can we?”

So we kept building.

What started as a small event has now grown into an annual tournament every July, bringing together people of all ages and abilities. We truly couldn’t be prouder of the impact it’s having.

This Year’s Event:

Last year, and again this year, we are proud to support Hospicecare, a charity providing specialist care and support to patients and families living with life-limiting illnesses across Exeter, Central and East Devon.

Over the past two years alone, we’ve donated more than £2,000 to charity.

In previous years, we had to use part of the team entry fees to help cover the costs of running the event. This year, we wanted to avoid that so even more money can go directly to charity.

That’s why we’re asking for a little extra support ahead of the festival on Saturday, July 4th. Any donations will help us provide:

* Food & drinks

* Medals & trophies

* Equipment & event costs

We completely understand that not everyone is in a position to donate, but if you are able to support the event in any way, we’d be incredibly grateful!

*Funds will be withdrawn ahead of the event to cover running costs. Any remaining proceeds after expenses will be donated to Hospiscare.
