On the morning of August 2nd, my brother Santiago Paez and brother in law David (Dj Tunjo) were detained by ICE outside Chicago Midway Airport. They had just gotten out of the Uber on their way to catch a flight to Washington D.C., the first stop of a tour where David was set to host unofficial after-parties following Karol G. They never made it through the door.

Santiago and David have been living in Chicago for a couple years now, building a life where they feel safe, making beautiful connections and integrating themselves to the city. David started his DJ career in 2025 and quickly made his mark, playing Sueños Festival and venues across Chicago, and building La Mesa Presents alongside Santiago, a platform the two created together to bring Latino community together. They’re not only partners they’re a power team.

My family, David’s family and I are shaken by this situation, we’re doing our best to stay strong in order to help them.

They were detained and transferred to Indiana, where they now wait for a court date on August 19th.

We're raising money right now to cover attorney fees, travel costs, and anything that could come up between now and the other side of this.
