Help Us Fix Garfits Lane – Community Route to Garfits Park

Donation protected
The road that connects our neighbourhood to Garfits Park is falling apart, and we need your help.

Garfits Lane isn't just a street for the residents who live here. Every day, families walk down this lane to reach Garfits Park. Dog walkers, joggers, parents with prams, children on bikes – dozens of people use this route because it's the main access point to green space that belongs to all of us.

But right now, Garfits Lane is riddled with potholes and crumbling tarmac. It's becoming dangerous, especially in wet weather. Parents worry about their kids tripping. Elderly residents struggle to navigate the uneven surface. Wheelchair users and those with mobility aids find it nearly impossible.

Why We're Fundraising

Here's the frustrating part: because Garfits Lane is technically a private road, the council says they can't help repair it. We're caught in a bureaucratic gap – it serves the public, but the responsibility falls on the handful of homeowners who live here.

Organizing repairs through traditional channels would mean each neighbour contributing hundreds or thousands of pounds. For many of us, that's simply not possible.

But we've found a better way.

One of our neighbors has the skills to do the work and has offered to do it at a reasonable cost – far less than hiring a commercial contractor. All we need to cover is the labor and materials: cold tarmac, adhesive, and basic supplies.

What Your Donation Will Do

Every pound goes directly toward:

- Materials to cover the potholes.
- Fair payment for skilled labour from our neighbour.
- A safe, smooth route to the park for everyone.

This isn't about making our private road fancy. This is about maintaining safe public access to community green space.

We All Benefit

Whether you live on Garfits Lane, use it to reach the park, or simply care about keeping our community accessible for everyone – this matters.

A safe, well-maintained lane means:

- Families can walk to the park without worry.
- Elderly residents can stay active and connected.
- The community keeps its most direct route to shared green space.
- We show what neighbors can accomplish together.

Please help us fix Garfits Lane. Every contribution, no matter how small, gets us closer to a solution.

Thank you for caring about our community.
