Hello relatives, friends, and community,

My name is Shaunessey Tynes and I am a single mother to my beautiful 4-year-old daughter, Tavonna. We are raising funds to complete our regalia and get back on the powwow trail together.

Dancing and being part of powwows have always helped me reconnect with my identity and culture — a healing path that has carried me through many challenges. Growing up in the foster system, I’ve had to rediscover where I come from and who I am. Through that journey, I’ve faced and overcome struggles with addiction and mental health, and I’ve found strength through tradition, ceremony, and love for my daughter.

Now, I’m ready to return to the circle — to dance, to teach my daughter about her roots, and to represent our people with pride. But making and finishing our regalia takes time, care, and resources. Every piece is sacred and meaningful — beadwork, materials, and design all come from the heart.
