I never imagined I’d be in this position, but I’m reaching out because my mom, our three dogs, and I are homeless and in urgent need of help. Not long ago, I thought things were finally turning around, but we’ve been knocked down again and again. People we trusted have let us down, and we’ve even been scammed by those who promised to help. I lost most of my luggage because I couldn’t carry it all on foot, and hotels have become too expensive with unpredictable rules. Even simple things, like asking for help with our bags, have led to rude treatment and more setbacks.
Now, we’re stranded outside with our remaining belongings, sleeping outdoors on and off for weeks. The weather in Florida has been brutal—hot, rainy, and unpredictable—and my asthma and weak immune system make it dangerous for me to be outside for long. I’ve already had to go to the clinic and even the emergency room because of breathing problems. My mom is stressed, and I’m doing my best to stay positive, but it feels like bad luck keeps following us. We have no transportation, and walking everywhere is exhausting, especially with my health issues. We tried to get a car with help from others, but we were scammed again. We just want to find a reliable way to get around and take care of ourselves and our dogs.
We’ve lost so much—clothes, supplies, and even a beloved pet to the heat. Our three dogs need food, baths, and a safe place to rest, and we need basic things like clean clothes, towels, and cleaning supplies. There’s no laundromat nearby, and everything we have left is dirty, which is making me even sicker. The people we thought would help, including relatives, have turned their backs on us. We’re tired, but we’re still fighting to get back on our feet.
