Help Us Find a New Home After Eviction Hardship

I recently lost my job, which caused me to fall behind on my bills. As a result, my landlord filed for eviction, and I was left feeling overwhelmed and anxious about what would happen to my 4-year-old daughter and me. I was referred to the City of Jacksonville’s Eviction Diversion Program, which is run by LJD Jewish & Community Services. When I was approved for financial assistance, I felt a huge sigh of relief, thinking we would have the support we needed to get through this tough time.

Unfortunately, things took an unexpected turn. After I found a new job, the city program rescinded their offer, saying I now made too much money to qualify for help. This abrupt change has left my daughter and me in a very difficult and disappointing situation. I can't help but feel like I'm being punished for getting a job and trying to do the right thing for my family. The money I’ve made from work has gone to paying other bills like my car note, utility bills, food, and childcare for my daughter, so I haven’t been able to save enough to secure a new place to live. We are now facing the challenge of finding a new place to live without the support we were counting on, and the stress has been overwhelming.

If you have anything to help us find a new place, I would truly appreciate your support. There’s no dollar amount too small to help us get back on our feet and find a safe home. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for any help you can offer.
