My name is Gabriel, and I’m raising funds for myself, my mom Sandra, my sister Mariana, and our two dogs, Lexi and Shiloh. Right now, we’re homeless in Norwalk, CT, living in our car with all of our belongings. We’ve always been a close family, and our dogs are a huge part of our lives. Lexi, a Chinese shar pei mix, is my sister’s emotional support dog—she’s anxious and can’t be without us. Shiloh, my beagle, helps me manage my anxiety and overstimulation from autism. They love each other deeply, and separating them or surrendering them would be devastating for all of us.

We’ve been working with Open Doors in Norwalk, but there are no beds available for us, and we can’t bring our dogs into the shelters. We were hoping to get help from their program for apartment down payments, but that service is no longer available. My mom works Uber Eats, and I just got a job, but it will be a while before we have enough saved. Right now, we’re struggling to pay for storage and food, and we urgently need help with the security deposit and first month’s rent for an apartment. Some places even require a second month’s rent upfront, which makes it even harder to get back on our feet.
